This aerial panorama of Richmond International Raceway, one of the most historic tracks in racing, was taken by James Blakeway during a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ race at America's Premier Short Track. Racing at RIR began in 1946 and today the unique ¾-mile facility remains a favorite among NASCAR fans, drivers and media. Located just outside of Richmond, Virginia, RIR is the focal point of a 1,000 acre multi-purpose facility. Richmond International Raceway, known for holding all of its events "under the lights," continues to be America's Premier Short Track by developing a thrilling, memorable and unparalleled guest experience.
